OPERATORS BATTLE FOR THE TOP SPOTS AT CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020

Hundreds of operators across North America have buckled in and hit the dirt to demonstrate their skills. The events included in the Cat® Global Operator Challenge weren’t those you’d find on your typical jobsite, but were a test of speed, precision and control—plus a whole lot of friendly (or not-so-friendly) competition. Here’s a few words from some of the competitors:

“Watching everybody try was just a blast.”
– Rick Parker, Altorfer Event

“It was a fun way to play safe.”
– Armando Garcia, Empire Event

“I’m going for that First Place, and I’m going for Vegas!”
– Cody “Prime Time” Wilson, Edmonton Event

The final showdown will occur on the opening day of CONEXPO/CONAGG 2020 in Las Vegas, March 10, 2020. Nine competitors from around the world will compete for the top position. You can win a free trip to CONEXPO/CONAGG 2020 to see the finals, sponsored by Caterpillar. Visit Cat.com/titan for your chance to win!

Tips from the Best
Benefit from the best. Put these trenching tips from our top operators to work!

TIP #1: Taking the time to do proper set-up and inspection will save you time. It may feel like it’s faster to get right to it, but it will cost you more time later.

TIP #2: Build your spoil pile at least two feet away from the trench for safety. Save time by extending the stick no more than 40 degrees to dump the bucket. If possible, dump the spoil directly into the truck that will haul it away.

TIP #3: Focus on moving material quickly at the beginning of the trench. Every pass doesn’t need to be a finishing pass. You’ll find you can get done faster and more efficiently. If you’re in an excavator with assist technologies, use them so you’re one-and-done.
